K'taka govt vows strict action against Nithyananda
The spiritual guru is already facing the heat from his followers who went on a rampage attacking his ashrams in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka after a shocking sex tape showing the Swamiji in a compromising position with a Tamil actress emerged on Tuesday, Mar 2 evening.
Speaking on the issue in the assembly on Thursday, Mar 4, Karnataka State Home Minister V S Acharya said that 'very strict' action would be taken against Nityananda.
Karnataka authorities plan to devise a course of action once information from Tamil Nadu has been received. The Swamiji has an ashram in Tamil Nadu and one in Karanataka's Bidadi.
Congress leader Siddaramaiah, who brought up the issue in the assembly, sought immediate arrest and confiscation of property of Nityananda.
The video was first aired by Sun TV on Mar 2 leading to violence in Coimbatore. Enraged followers ransacked the ashrams and indulged in vandalism way into the night. The following day on Wednesday, Mar 3 violence broke out in Bidadi.
Swami Nithyananda is absconding.
