Two Air India employees suspended for molesting nine-year-old at Kolkata Airport
Kolkata, Mar. 2 (ANI): National carrier Air India has suspended two of its employees after they were charged with molesting a nine9-year-old at Kolkata Airport on Tuesday.
According to a private television channel, the girl was passing through check-in with her mother on her way to Boston via Frankfurt in a Lufthansa flight when the two men molested her.
Based on her mother's complaint, airport police have detained Reza Ahmed and Binoy Sahani on molestation and abetment to molestation charges respectively.
Both men are in their 30s.
Reza Ahmed, an Air India loader was caught by the mother of a nine-year-old passenger allegedly 'touching her inappropriately' at the check-in point near the X-ray machine of the airport, as the family of three were undergoing security check before boarding the flight.
The incident occurred at around 1.45 a.m.
The woman immediately registered a complaint with the airport police. The lady and her two children went on to board the Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt after registering the complaint.
The woman along with her two children was headed to Boston.
Ahmed's associate, Binoy Sahani, was also detained for allegedly abetting in the crime.
Airport sources have condemned the incident and said the mother broke down while describing her daughter's ordeal to the police.
Police have refused to disclose the identity of the victim or her mother. (ANI)
