Afghan bans live reports of Taliban attacks
Kabul, Mar 2: Considering it be a encouragement for Islamists militants, Afghanistan has announced a ban on live news coverage of Taliban attacks.
"Live coverage does not benefit the government, but benefits the enemies of Afghanistan," the spokesman Saeed Ansari said.
National directorate of Security spy agency said that journalists will be allowed to cover only the aftermath of the attack, which can be done only after obtaining permission from the agency.
However, the decision has drawn strong opposition from the Afghan journalism and rights groups, stating that the public would be deprived of vital information on security situation during attacks.
The government came in the wake of the NATO forces have launched attacks against Taliban's southern strongholds
