Silvio Berlusconi's sexy election candidates line-up

London, Mar 1 (ANI): In spite of being criticized for undermining democratic process, Italy's controversial prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has again put up sexy starlets as election candidates for his centre-Right party.

Among the candidates who will contest crucial elections in Italy are a television weather girl, a former actress and a dental hygienist.

Last year the prime minister dropped a group of showgirls from his list of candidates for European elections after his wife said the move was "shamelessly trashy" and demanded a divorce.

The premier's party People of Freedom was also not happy with the line-up, reports The Telegraph.

Nicole Minetti, 25, who will be a candidate in the northern region of Lombardy, is a television showgirl who recently qualified as a dental hygienist and also helped put the smile back on Berlusconi's face after he was smashed in the face by a man with a history of mental problems following a political rally in Milan in December.

Giovanna Del Giudice, a former television weathergirl and a hostess at Billionaire, an exclusive beachside nightclub on Sardinia's Costa Smeralda, will be gracing the political campaign in the southern region of Campania.

She broke down in tears last year after she was dropped as a candidate for the European elections.

The third glamorous candidate is Emanuela Romano, 29, whose father Cesare tried to set fire to himself last April outside Berlusconi's mansion in Rome in protest at her rejection.

"I want to show my ability, my political passion and my support for work opportunities for young people," she said.

There are also other characters in the ranks of the opposition parties, including the Venetian-born erotic film director Tinto Brass, a candidate for a small party of radicals. (ANI)
