Man, daughter fall from 13th floor, survives
Concepcion (Chile), Mar 1: In a miraculous escape during the Chile earthquake, a man and his daughter survived depsite falling from the 13th floor of a building.
Alberto Rozas had pulled his 7-year-old daughter, Fernanda into the bathroom doorway and waited for the earthquake to stop, but instead found themselve plummeting as they brand new apartment fell like a tree.
"There
was
dust,
noise,
everything
falling.We
went
to
the
bathroom
doorway.
Then
there
was
the
fall.
Finally
it
stopped,"
Rozas
said.
The father-daughter duo hugged each other as they plunged downwards. Fortunately they survived the crash with few cuts, scrapes and bruises.
"The earthquake and the fall were one single, horrible thing. "I held onto her and she never let me go. The construction was obviously poor," Rozas said in a news agency report.
Rescuers used electric saws and a generator-powered hammer to cut into the concrete to save Rozas neigbour who were trapped beneath the structure.
