Rohtak/Narwana (Haryana), Feb 28 (ANI): Authorities in Haryana on Sunday imposed strict security measures across the state to prevent any untoward incident in the wake of protests by the followers of a Sikh sect agitating over the filing of a murder case against their chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

The followers of the Dera Sacha Sauda, a sub-sect of Sikhs, went on a rampage at several places in the state and also in Punjab on Saturday to voice their ire at their chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's name figuring in the murder case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had booked Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh last week in connection with the murder of Faqir Chand in 1991.

"We have deployed security around state-run offices. We have sent for more to Railway Police and as per our information no untoward has taken place in Rohtak district and we are prepared to handle any situation," Anil Kumar Rao, Senior Superintendent of Police, Rohtak.

Earlier, activists of Dera Sacha Sauda torched a bus at Narwana in Jind district of the state.

"There were about 25-26 persons, they did not say anything they just stopped the bus, sprayed petrol and set it on fire. There were about 100 people in the bus," said Prateek, driver of the us. (ANI)
