B'lore: Four held in Carlton Towers fire case
Bangalore, Feb 28: Police have arrested four people on Saturday, Feb 27, in connection with Carlton Towers blaze, which claimed nine lives.
Police said, Owner Rafiqur Rehman, Carlton security in-charge Ramachandra Bhandari, electrical in-charge Kempegowda and building maintenance in- charge Chennaiah, were arrested and booked for negligence.
According to police, Rehman was booked under IPC section 338 (Rash and Negligence Act causing grievous injury and section 304 (a) causing death due to negligence.
Fire authorities had said several safety norms had been violated in the complex, which house software firms and commercial establishments including high-end restaurants.
Senior fire service officials had said the emergency exits were blocked, coming in the way of inmates trying to escape, and storing of diesel for the generators on the terrace.
