TN: Missing scientist found dead on railway tracks

Chennai, Feb 27: The body of a man found near a railway track between Vandalur and Guduvancherry section on Feb 15 has been identified to be that of a scientist working at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) at Kalpakkam.

37-year-old S Ananthanarayanan was reported missing on Feb 15 itself. But the body was confirmed to be that of Narayan by his father-in-law only on Thursday, Feb 26 night.

The scientist was run over by a suburban train at about 11 on that day and his body was lying in Thambaram Government hospital mortuary since then, the Kalpakkam police are quoted as saying in a news agency report.

IGCAR has revealed that the scientist working with the computer department reported to work last on Feb 12. He, however, did not deal with any sensitive information.

While some reports suggest that there are no confimed reports on how the scientist came under the railway tracks, others say that interrogations have revealed that the scientist committed suicide .
