'SIMI, IM claim responsibility to Pune blast'
Pune, Feb 25: The outlawed Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and the Indian Mujahideen have claimed responsibility for Pune terror blast, police said.
Speaking to reporters, Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh said that he has received two letters to this effect, purportedly from the two organisations.
On Feb 13, a blast ripped through the German Bakery in the upscale Koregaon Park area, killing 16 people and injuring scores.
In a related development, a designated anti-terrorism court here passed an order restraining the electronic media from telecasting footage of the blast site.
A police prosecutor urged that the telecast of the site footage was hampering investigations.
