Railways to lay 15000 Kms Optical Fibre Cables
New Delhi, Feb. 24 (ANI): The Minister for Railways Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced that 15,000 kilometres Optical Fibre Cables (OFC) will be laid through Public Private Partnership (PPP) to cover the entire railway network.
"This Optical Fibre Cables infrastructure will be utilized to extend broadband services with the last mile connectivity on PPP basis to urban and rural areas. She said, the Indian Railways already has a network of 37,000 kms of Optical Fibre Cables and work on adding another 12,000 kms is in progress," Ms. Mamata said. (ANI)
