Rlys to set up Cultural & Heritage Promotion Board

New Delhi, Feb 24: Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday, Feb 24, announced the proposal of setting up a Railway Cultural and Heritage Promotion Board (RCHPB).

The board will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all culture and heritage related activities on the railways.

Presenting the Railway Budget for 2010-11 in Parliament, Banerjee also announced that a Rabindra Museum at Howrah and Gitanjali Museum at Bolpur would be set up to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore.

Banerjee said that she also proposes to re-model Bholpur station inspired by the architecture of Shantiniketan.

This will provide state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities for the promotion of culture.

The Ministry of Railways also proposes to set up Shambhu Mitra Cultural Complex with performing arts and music academy at Howrah.
