Oppn agrees to discuss price rise in LS
New Delhi, Feb 24: The discussion on the price price rise will finally take place as the opposition has agreed to discuss about it.
The government on Wednesday, Feb 24 said that the discussion over price rise will be held in the Lok Sabha on Feb 25, under Rule 193, which rules out voting the government said.
Earlier, the Rajya Sabha had to adjourned for the second consecutive day as the BJP members along with S S Ahluwalia demanded that a discussion on the price rise of essential commodities under Rules 167 and 168.
The two rules for discussion requires voting as well as recording of the sense of the house on the topic under discussion.
Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon as the Chairman Hamid Ansari's repeated pleas, including the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Prithviraj Chavan acceptance of the proposal failed to calm down the oppositions, .
"We are ready for a discussion. Let question hour be suspended and let the discussion begin right now," Chavan said .
