Parliament's Budget session begins on Feb 22

New Delhi, Feb 22: As the budget session begins on Monday, Feb 22, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government is preparing to face an aggressive Opposition.

The session will begin with the customary President Pratibha Patil's address to the joint sitting of both the Houses on Monday, Feb 22.

The BJP, the Left and other parties have demanded that a discussion on the rising prices be taken up on Tuesday, Feb 23.

Other issues like Indo-Pak talks, Bt brinjal, the Pune terror attack, the Maoist menace and the Telangana agitation are also likely to be discussed.

The BJP and the Left parties have indicated disruption of proceedings in case the issue of price rise was not taken up for discussion on Feb 23.

The General Budget will be presented on Feb 26, the Economic Survey on Feb 25 and the Railway Budget on Feb 24. The session would conclude on May 7.
