Telangana issue: Youth dies after self-immolation
Hyderabad, Feb 21: A 19-year-old student, who set himself on fire in support of a separate Telangana state, succumbed to his burns on Sunday morning, Feb 21.
According to a police, Siripur Yadaiah, who sustained 80 percent burns, died at Apollo DRDO Hospital.
Yadaiah, a class 12 student of New Nobel Junior College in the city, set himself ablaze at about 2 pm on Saturday, Feb 20, at the main gate of Osmania University.
Yadaiah poured kerosene and set himself on fire, shouting the slogan 'Jai Telangana'.
Leaders of students' Joint Action Committee (JAC) and pro-Telangana parties reached the village to attend the last rites of Yadaiah.
Meanwhile, Osmania University campus remained tense after students-police clashes in and around the campus Saturday evening, Feb 20.
The university authorities have postponed post-graduate exams which were scheduled on Feb 22 and 23.
The revised date for the postponed exams has not yet been announced.
