Telangana: Student attempts self-immolation
Hyderabad, Feb 20: A 19-year-old student added fuel to the fire of Telangana protests when he attempted self-immolation.
The student reportedly set himself ablaze near the NCC gate on the Western side of the Osmania University on Saturday, Feb 20 afternoon, after the police stopped the pro-Telangana students from taking out the rally to State Assembly.
As per reports, the youngster has been identified as S Yadagiri, a student of Noble College in the city. Suffering 70 per cent burns, Yadgiri is currently in a critical condition.
A suicide note written by the student has been recovered. He has reportedly written that he was doing himself in to protest the delay in the formation of a separate Telangana.
This escalated tension at the OU as students started pelting stones at the police after the incident.
