Noida: Drunken youths run over SI for revenge

Greater Noida, Feb 19: In an act of revenge, a group of six youths allegedly knocked off a police sub-inspector shortly after they were released on bail for drunken driving.

Sub Inspector John Peter had booked them for drunken driving on Wednesday night, Feb 17 and sent them to police station.

Peter is now battling for his life in a hospital in Greater Noida, a senior police official said on Friday, Feb 19.

On Wednesday, Feb 17, Peter and other police personnel were carrying out routine checking when they found the youths in a drunken state.

They sent the youths to police station where they later got bail.

"While going out of the police station, they saw Peter on a motorcycle and ran over him," the official said.

The official added that the youths have been arrested again for attempted murder of a public servant.
