J&K: Gun battle rages between troops, ultras

Srinagar, Feb 17: Jammu Kashmir woke up to fresh gun battle that broke out between the militants and security forces in Baramullah district of North Kashmir on Wednesday, Feb 17 morning.

The incident took place when the police and security forces were retaliated with heavy firing from the militants holed up in a house when they cordoned Chandoosa area 60 km from here, acting on a tip-off .

Police said that the exchange of fire between the two sides is still going on.

Jammu Kashmir has been plagued by numerous gun battle between the troops and the militants groups in 2010, the longest one being the two-day gun battle in Kulgam district, which started on Friday, Jan 22 evening.
