Centre determined to face Maoist menace
New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): The Central Government on Wednesday said the disgraceful attack on a paramilitary camp in West Bengal's Sealdah district has strengthened its resolve to fight the Maoist threat.
Replying to Monday's attack by Maoists, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said, "It is a dastardly attack and I can only tell it has strengthened our resolve to fight against this menace."
At least 24 security personnel of West Bengal's paramilitary force Eastern Frontier Rifles were killed on Monday evening in the Maoists attack.
Maoist leader Kishenji claimed responsibility for the attack saying it was an answer to Chidambaram's 'Operation Green Hunt'.
The attack came barely a week after Chidambaram's meeting in Kolkata to draw up a joint strategy to counter the Maoists threat. (ANI)
