Osmania University students clash with police

Hyderabad, Feb 15: Just hours after the protests on the statehood of Telangana turned ugly at the Osmania Univerty, pro-Telangana students started off fresh protests against alleged police brutality.

Students pelted stones at the policemen prompting the security forces to retaliate with batons. As per reports, members of both sides were injured in Monday, Feb 15 clashes.

On Sunday, Feb 14, over 30 people and six journalists were injured when the police and paramilitary forces tried to control the protesters with batons, tear gas shells and rubber bullets.

The police were reportedly forced to step in as the students were planning a procession praising 15 Telangana legislators, who resigned to protest terms of reference of Srikrishna panel looking into the statehood issue.

This incident invited a lot of criticism from across the spectrum while the Joint Action Committee (JAC) threatened mass suicides if the forces don't leave the campus.
