'Weak' in studies, girl commits suicide in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 14: An 18-year-old student allegedly committed suicide after being constantly scolded by her parents for being weak in studies.

According to police, the victim has been identified as Amita, a Class XII student of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Vikaspuri.

She allegedly hanged herself at her residence in Hastsaal at around 11 am on Friday, Feb 12.

A suicide note was recovered from her possession in which she claimed that she took the extreme step on her own.

Questioning of the parents by the police revealed that Amita was often rebuked by them for not being as good as her elder brother and sister in studies.

Amita's elder brother is an engineer in Chandigarh while her elder sister is doing an MBA course in Amritsar.
