BSF officer transferred over Kashmiri's death
Srinagar, Feb 13: The plot of the death of the Kashmiri boy turns murkier as Commander RK Birdi had been transferred from the 68 battalion following accusation from a constable of his battalion of ordering the killing of the victim on Feb 5, 2010, media reports said.
According to a news agency report, Constable Lakhvinder Kumar of BSF's 68th Battalion, suspect in the killing of 17-year-old Zahid Farooq Shah has said that Commandant R K Birdi had ordered him to open fire, just as Shah was playing cricket in the playground.
Inspector General-level officer from Tripura has been appointed by BSF to preside the court of inquiry.
Alleging him as prima facie involved in the killing, Kumar was handed over to the police for further investigation.
However, family of Shah had said that Kumar was just made as a scapegoat by the BSF to protect a senior officer.
