IIP grows a whopping 16.8 pc in Dec 2009
New Delhi, Feb 12: Riding on the indefatigable domestic demand, India"s industrial production saw a whopping 16.8 percent growth in Dec 2009.
The index of industrial production (IIP), that measures country"s factory output, was at negative 0.2 in Dec 2008.
As per the data released by the Central Statistical Organisation on Friday, Feb 12, the IIP stood at 8.6 percent during the first nine months this fiscal as opposed to 3.6 percent during the corresponding period in 2008.
Besides, the industrial output for Nov 2009 was revised up to 11.8 percent from 11.7 percent.
Manufacturing index was up 18.5 percent in Dec 2009 against decline of 0.6 percent in 2008. Mining and power generation index shot up 9.5 percent and 5.4 percent respectively, while consumer durables sector expanded 46 per cent.
