Chennai, Feb 10: The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday, Feb 10, said it would consult the Centre before taking any decision on premature release of Nalini, convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

The state's position was stated before a Division Bench by Advocate General P S Raman of the Madras High Court.

The court was also informed that the Government was yet to receive the report of the Advisory Board formed to consider Nalini's plea for premature release.

A Bench comprising Justices Elipe Dharma Rao and M Paul Vasanthakumar adjourned the hearing to Feb 19.

Earlier, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had said that the state could not take any unilateral decision on the plea by Nalini.
