Official jeep catches fire, Omar escapes unhurt

Jammu, Feb 10: Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister had a close shave on Tuesday, Feb 9 night when the engine of his official vehicle caught on fire.

Quoting sources a news agency reports that the engine of the bullet proof jeep started emitting smoke and later caught on fire. However, the fire was immediately extinguished.

The chief minister was able to escape unhurt thanks to the central locking system of the vehicle, which did not jam.

The locking system of the vehicle usually jams when a fire breaks out in the vehicle.

By the time the Special Security Guard, protecting the Chief Minister, rushed to the vehicle, the chief minister and the driver had stepped out of it, the sources informed.

The incident took place at Sambha, 40 km from Jammu, when Omar was returning from Kathua after attending a function.
