Woman raped by former neighbour in UP
New Delhi, Feb 7: A 19-Year-old woman was allegedly raped on Friday night, Feb 5, by her former neighbour in Shankar Vihar in Uttar Pradesh, police said.
Police said that the accused, identified as 21-year-old Rajat Kumar has been arrested A case of rape has been registered against him.
The victim and the accused are from Uttar Pradesh and lived with their families in the same locality in Mahipalpur.
"Later, when the woman's family moved back to their village in UP, she moved to a rented accommodation in Shankar Vihar with a friend," a police officer was quoted by Indian Express as saying.
According to the complainant, the victim was walking back home after work around 5.30 pm on Friday, Feb 5, when accused Rajat Kumar offered to walk her home.
Police said, "At her home, the woman offered to make tea and the accused went inside. He attacked her and raped her then."
