K'taka mulling rehab package for Naxals: CM

Bangalore, Feb 7: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Sunday Feb 7, said that its government is actively considering rehabilitation package to Naxalites

Addressing the chief ministers' conference, he said, "Due to the government's concerted and determined efforts, the Naxal menace has been kept very much under control in Karnataka."

He further said, "Though there were a few incidents of threats and an incident of attack on police by naxals, for the first time in three years no policeman or civilian was killed by naxals."

Yeddyurppa urged the Centre to depute officers to help the state in setting up a full-fledged commando training centre to tackle the twin threats of naxalism and terrorism.

"In the last few years, it is seen that the enemy forces are concentrating on cities like Bangalore which reflect the growth centres of the country," he added.
