After Hyderabad, fire at Kolkata hospital

Kolkata, Feb 3: Just a day after a major fire broke out at a Hyderabad hospital, yet another fire at a hospital in Kolkata has been reported.

A fire broke out in the gynaecology department of the premier state-run SSKM hospital on Wednesday, Feb 3 at around 9:30 am.

Fire brigade sources told the media that the fire was reported after the nurses of the maternity ward saw the fire at the metre box near the operation theatre on the third floor.

The fire was put out within an hour's time after two fire tenders were rushed into action.

On initial investigation, the fire brigade said that a short circuit caused the fire.

The hospital has shifted all the patients waiting for operations to other wards.

In the Tuesday, Feb 2 fire at a private superspeciality hospital in Hyderabad, one person was killed while many people are still battling for their lives after they inhaled a lot of smoke and jumped from the second floor.

The authorities are yet to answer the questions on what cause the fire at the Andhra Pradesh hospital.
