CBI registers case in Sohrabuddin's killing
Mumbai, Feb 3: The CBI has registered a case against Gujarat Police officials in the alleged fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh.
The CBI took up the case on directions of the Supreme Court.
According to sources, CBI registered the case on Monday, Feb 1, against Gujarat Police officials and others under various sections of IPC including criminal conspiracy, murder and kidnapping.
The decision was taken after the Gujarat Government failed to conduct impartial investigations.
The state government also attempted to mislead the apex court by filing conflicting action taken reports (ATRs).
In 2005, Gujarat police had allegedly killed Sohrabuddin Sheikh, claimed to be a gangster, and his wife Kausarbi in a fake encounter.
