Rahul slams MNS, Sena over migrant issue
Patna, Feb 2: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has slammed Shiv Sena Bal Thackeray and the MNS for their tirade against north Indians.
Addressing a conference here on Monday, Feb 1, Gandhi said that the commandos who saved Mumbai during 26/11 terror attacks were North Indians.
He said, "In Maharashtra, MNS leader Raj Thackeray keeps on saying throw out people of Bihar and UP. But, who killed the terrorists who had attacked Mumbai? They were the NSG guys from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and from the rest of the country. At that time they did not say throw away Biharis."
Gandhi said, "if terrorists have to be fought with, let Biharis remain there."
He made the remarks at an interactive session with workers of youth Congress and NSUI here.
According to reports, the Shiv Sena was quick to hit back on Rahul Gandhi saying that his comments were insult to the memory of 26/11 martyrs like Hemant Karkare.
In an article published in party's mouth piece Saamna, Uddhav Thackeray said that Rahul has forgotten the Maharashtrian heroes like Hemant Karkare, Tukaram Ombale, Vijay Salaskar and Ashok Kamte.
"We are only insisting that Mumbai is for Maharashtrians," added Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray.
