Multi-religion mass marriage ceremony in Mathura
Mathura, Feb 1 (ANI): At least 21 couples including Hindus and Muslims, gave a message of communal harmony when they tied the knot under one roof at a mass marriage ceremony here on Sunday.
The event, which is into its fourth year, was organised by the Sankalp Welfare Society.
"We want to give a message to the whole country that if you want to look at an example of unity then you have to look at Mathura. Twenty one couples are getting married out of whom 16 are Hindu and five are Muslims. We have even taken out a procession in the whole town, which is a topic of discussion," said Raju Bahi, chief of the society.
Both grooms and brides, dressed in their traditional attire, were wedded according to their respective religious rites.
Mass marriages are in the vogue across the country, as traditional marriages are a costly affair. (ANI)
