Baghdad: Suicide bomber targets pilgrims, kills 41
Baghdad, Feb 1: After a brief hiatus, the ghost of terrorism came back to haunt Iraq again as suicide bomber killed over 41 people and sent over 100 injured to hospitals here on Monday, Feb 1.
The female terrorist was walking among the Shiite pilgrims, pretending to be one among them, in northern Baghdad when she detonated an explosives belt, say media reports.
An official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, informed that the dead included three women and two children.
Besides this, about 38 people, including five women and six children, were injured in the attack.
The first strike against pilgrims in 2010 has given birth to fears that many more attacks will mar the pilgrimage which culminates on Friday, Feb 5.
