No clash between Pak executive and judiciary
Islamabad, Jan.31 (ANI): Rejecting the reports of a clash between the executive and the judiciary, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said he would never take such action which would threaten the stability of state institutions.
"I have no clash with the judiciary and will not take any step that threatens stability of state institutions," he told reporters after paying a surprise visit to a girls school here.
"Whenever I say something, there is some weight behind it," Gilani said.
He was referring to his recent statements in the National Assembly (NA) that Swiss corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari could not be reopened because he enjoyed immunity under the Constitution.
Gilani's remarks were viewed to create a rift between the executive and the judiciary.
Political analysts said the Supreme Court's verdict declaring the National Reconciliation Ordinanace (NRO) as 'unconstitutional' clearly sought reopening of the cases against Zardari.
Gilani also expressed the confidence that his government would complete its term of five years, The Dawn reports. (ANI)
