Hillary Clinton loses shoe, Sarkozy steps in

Paris, Jan 30: In a scene that reminded many of the fairy tale of Cinderella and Prince Charming, United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tripped and lost her shoe when she arrived at Elysee Palace here to be rescued by the French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Clinton arrived at the Palace on Friday, Jan 29, to meet with French politicians and discuss European security policies.

The incident took place on the steps of Paris' Elysee Palace when the US secretary of State accidentally stepped out of her black shoe.

However, Sarkozy immediately stepped in and rescued Clinton from further embarrassment. Both the politicians later shared a laugh about it at the top of the stairs.

The French president's quick thinking and wit has earned him a lot of flattery and praise in the media. While some reports have dubbed him 'the knight in shining armour', others concluded that chivalry is not dead as 'Sarkozy could not stand by while a lady was in distress'.
