Russian rape: One of the two accused held

Panaji, Jan 29: In a significant development in the rape case of nine-year-old Russian girl, Goa police have arrested one of the two accused in the case.

The accused identified as Anil Raghuvanshi was arrested from Pernem bus stop in the morning, Deputy inspector general of police, Ravindra Yadav said in the news agency report.

Yadav said that the accused, who hails from Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh, is being interrogated to establish his role in the case.

on Jan 26, Raghuvanshi started a conversation with the mother of the victim to divert her attention, while the main accused Aman Bharadwaj raped the minor girl.

The state police has sought the help of the Mumbai crime branch officials to arrest Bharadwaj who is still on the run.

The photograph of Bharadwaj was released on Thursday, Jan 27.
