Republic day parade begins in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 26: The grand parade at Rajpath began at 10:12 am in the capital city. South Korean president Lee Myung-bak was the chief guest at this year's parade.

India showcased military might during this parade.

Prime minister Manmohan Singh and Vice-President Mohammad Ansari, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, Major Deepak Kapoor along with the country's top political and military brass were present at the parade.

Prior to the parade, the President Pratibha Patil honored Havildar Rajesh Kumar of 11 Rajputana Rifles (post humous) and Major Mohit Sharma (posthumous) and Major D. Sreeram Kumar with the Ashok Chakras.
