Ethiopian Airlines flight crashes into the sea

Beirut, Jan 25: An Ethiopian Airlines flight, which disappeared off the radar shortly after take off, has reportedly crashed into the Mediterranean Sea.

The Boeing 737, which is learnt to have been carrying 85 passengers, disappeared off the radar some five minutes after takeoff from Beirut international airport in the wee hours of Monday, Jan 25 morning.

Quoting airport sources, media reports say that the flight was carrying 50 Lebanese nationals besides Ethiopians and seven crew members.

Even though the airliner could not be contacted for a comment on the news, the residents on the coast are reported to have seen the plane crashing into the sea after catching fire.
