Pak Govt. stops CEC from visiting India in protest against IPL snub

Islamabad, Jan.24 (ANI): The Pakistan government has stopped Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retired) Hamid Ali Mirza from visiting India in protest against keeping out Pakistani cricketers from the Indian Premier League's (IPL) third season.

It may be noted that Mirza along with other officials were scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on January 25 to participate in the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Election Commission of India.

Mirza had asked for guidance on the working of electronic voting machines (EVM), which are being used in India for elections since 2002, replacing the old ballot and stamps system.

The Pakistan government's stance to not allow the CEC to visit India in the wake of the IPL snub is its latest 'protest' after a parliamentary delegation cancelled its trip to India earlier this week. (ANI)
