Iran plane catches fire on landing; 46 injured
Tehran, Jan 24: At least 46 passengers were injured on Sunday, Jan 24, when an Iranian plane caught fire while landing in the northeastern city of Mashhad.
According to Iranian officials, the Russian-built Tupolev 154 plane belonging to Taban Airline caught fire as the aircraft was landing at Mashhad airport.
"The plane went off the runaway upon landing and part of its rear end broke away," Javad Erfanian, head of disaster management of Khorasan Razavi province was quoted by state television channel as saying.
"Forty-six people have been injured, but most of them are not serious," he added.
