Mumbai train drivers strike again, services hit

Mumbai, Jan 22: The local train drivers have once again decided to take Mumbai's life line hostage to demand a hike in pay, severely disrupting train services in the city.

As per the latest media reports, drivers' strike has brought sub urban train services on central route to a stand still.

Local train services between CST and Thane have been affected the worst.

The strike is bound to cause a lot of difficulty to thousands of commuters who generally take the trains to return home after work.

This is not the first time a flash strike like this by the local railway employees has brought the services to a grinding halt.

In Oct 2009, motormen launched a strike refusing to work overtime leading to trains being halted for about half an hour.

The drivers were protesting against long working hours, heavy workload and were demanding that the vacancies should be filled up quickly.
