Price Rise: Centre-CMs meet on Jan 27
New Delhi, Jan 21: Amid the countrywide outcry over the rising prices, the Centre has decided to hold a meeting with Chief Ministers on Jan 27 to address the issue.
This comes after the states demanded the Centre to convene a meeting with the Chief Ministers in order to come up with a combined strategy to bring down the rising food prices.
Official sources revealed that the meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Despite the food inflation easing marginally in the recent past, the prices of essential commodities continue to surge.
On Wednesday, Jan 20, the Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, who drew flak over the escalating sugar prices, said that milk would also get pricey.
This intensified that nation's frustration over the growing prices while parties such as BJP and BSP launched a protest against the minister.
