Chhattisgarh official axed on sexual abuse charges
Raipur, Jan 20: A forest department official has been suspended after 12 women employees of the department levelled sexual abuse charges against him in Chhattisgarh.
The action was taken on Wednesday, Jan 20, after the issue was brought to the notice of forest minister Vikram Usendi.
According to a forest department official, "Ashok Sonwani, who was posted in Kanker district as ranger, has been suspended with immediate effect."
The official further said, "Several women forest guards levelled sex abuse charges against Sonwani. A recent government enquiry has confirmed the charges."
The official also said the women had informed the senior forest department here early this month that Sonwani's act had put them under severe mental stress.
