PM Manmohan pays homage to Jyoti Basu
New Delhi, Jan 18: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday, Jan 18, visited CPI-M headquarters here to pay homage to the Jyoti Basu, who died on Sunday, Jan 17.
Prime Minister reached the CPI-M office at Gole Market and paid floral tributes to Basu. He also signed the condolence book.
In his message, Singh said, "In the sad demise of Shri Jyoti Basu, our country has lost a great son who was a great statesman and great patriot."
"I convey my deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family and countless admirers, comrades and followers of Shri Basu," the message said.
Earlier, Vice-President Hamid Ansari also paid floral tributes to Basu at the CPI(M) office.
