Holbrooke meets Krishna, discusses AfPak
New Delhi, Jan 18: US special envoy Richard Holbrooke met External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on Monday, Jan 18.
This meeting comes ahead of the London conference later this month to discuss on ways of stabilising Afghanistan.
During the meeting, US special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan (AfPak) praised India's role in Afghanistan and explored areas where the US and India can work together in the violence-torn country.
According to official sources, Krishna will represent India at the London conference on Jan 28.
The conference will be co-hosted by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
Krishna conveyed to Holbrooke India's commitment to rebuilding the shattered infrastructure in Afghanistan.
India has pledged $1.3 billion for the reconstruction of Afghanistan, making it the largest regional donor to the strife-torn country.
