Mumbai Marathon 2010 concludes
Mumbai, Jan 17: Thousands of Mumbaikars came out as the Mumbai Marathon 2010 kicked off on Sunday, Jan 17.
More than 38,000 participants are running Asia's largest marathon this year.
The Mumbai Marathon has five main categories which includes 42 km full marathon, 21 km half marathon, 6 km dream run, 4 km senior citizens' run and the two and a half km wheelchair event.
The prominent people seen participating at various points included Akshay Kumar, Gul Panag, Rahul Bose, John Abraham, Ritesh Deshmukh and Gulshan Grover.
The race started from Chhatrpati Shivaji Terminus and wend its way through the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and back.
Tina Ambani remained in person to cheer the senior citizens who also launched their race. She boosted their morale by cheering and clapping.
"There is so much enthusiasm among them. They have feelings and emotions that inspire them to come out and run. It is our duty to encourage them and tell them to live life to the fullest," Tina Ambani said.
The prize money this year for the full marathon is close to 1.5 crore rupees.
