Pak doing all on legal, diplomatic fronts to ensure Dr.Aafia's release: Haqqani
Washington, Jan.16 (ANI): Pakistan Ambassador to the United States, Hussain Haqqani has said that Islamabad is doing its best on both the diplomatic and legal fronts to ensure Dr. Aafia Siddiqui's release.
Siddiqui, who is currently detained by the US, has been charged for shooting at her US interrogators in Afghanistan in July last year.
Haqqani said the lawyers, put up by the Pakistan government, would put up a strong defence for Dr.Siddiqui, whose trial is set to begin in the Manhattan Federal Court on January 19.
He said that the people of Pakistan believe that the charges against her were 'not true' and that she was being victimized by the American agencies. (ANI)
