Tata Motors global sales jumps 84 pc in Dec 2009
New Delhi, Jan 15: Giving very good news to the automobile sector, which has been one of the worst affected industry due to the global economic slump, Tata Motors on Friday, Jan 15, posted encouraging sales numbers for Dec 2009 month.
India"s largest automobile manufacturer saw a 84 per cent surge in its global sales at 74,707 units in comparison with the numbers recorded in Dec 2008.
The company also saw 137 per cent leap in the sale of its commercial vehicles at 37,326 units and sold 16,247 units of passenger vehicles, up by 53 per cent in the month under review.
Jaguar and Land Rover sales jumped up by 33 per cent, the company said in a statement.
Accounting for a five per cent rise, 4,794 units of Jaguar were sold in the last month of 2009 while sales of Land Rover stood at 16,340 units accounting an increase of 45 per cent.
Besides these two iconic brands, Tata Motors Group"s global sales included sales of Tata, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles.
