Ruchika case: Rathore hands in passport
Chandigarh, Jan 15: Former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore, accused in the 1990 Rushika molestation case, handed over his passport to a local court on Thursday, Jan 14.
Rathore's lawyer wife Abha reportedly submitted the passport to the court on his behalf.
On Wednesday, Jan 13, the special CBI court granted bail to the ex-DGP till Feb 8 and directed him to not leave the country.
Additional district and sessions judge RS Attri asked Rathore to submit his passport within a week's time.
Rathore was convicted in the 1990 case after 19 years and was sentenced to six months imprisonment along with a fine was Rs 1000.
However, the late and light sentence to the molester enraged the country and the Indian media took up the campaign to wipe the smile off the ex-top cop's face, who did not spend even a single day in prison as he was immediately granted bail.
