US not to broker Indo-Pak talks: Holbrooke
Islamabad, Jan.14 (ANI): The United States has once again clarified that it would not broker talks between India and Pakistan, and said pending issues should be resolved by them amicably.
Interacting with editors and columnists here, US Special Envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke said Washington would support any initiative taken by both countries to improve their ties.
"It is for Pakistan and India to engage in a process of dialogue, and we support it," The Daily Times quoted Holbrooke, as saying.
Responding to Indian Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor's recent statement that the Indian Armed forces were capable enough of taking on both Pakistan and China simultaneously, Holbrooke said it was his (General Kapoor's) personal opinion and that it did not reflect New Delhi's policy.
"What General Kapoor said does not reflect the Indian national policy," Holbrooke said. (ANI)
