Sainiks planning grand birthday for Bal Thackeray
Mumbai, Jan 12: After a relatively quiet birthday party in 2009 due to the Nov 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and his health condition, Bal Thackeray will be celebrating the 2010 birthday party in a grand manner.
Shiv Sena activists are already busy organising the party and gatherings across the state marking the birth anniversary of the party supremo which falls on Jan 23.
"Balasaheb's birthday would be celebrated this year in Mumbai's Shanmukhananda Hall with fanfare. Activists would organise social gatherings across the state," Sena secretary Anil Desai said.
On Jan 6, the party started a membership drive marking the birth anniversary of Meenatai Thackeray, wife of Bal Thackeray.
Expressing confidence that the drive will be a huge success, Desai said, "This time, we would have the highest membership crossing 50 lakh across the state. Every house would have at least one Sena member."
The drive will end on Jan 23.
