Union budget on Feb 26: Pranab
New Delhi, Jan 10: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has announced that the government will present its annual Budget on Feb 26.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Jan 9, Mukherjee said that government was aiming at enacting legislation in the second half of 2010 for introducing a new Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Mukherjee said he is hopeful growth rate could touch 8 percent in the fiscal year to Mar 2010, faster than 6.7 percent in 2009.
"With faster growth in output in recent months and rise in inflation, India is widely expected to withdraw some of its fiscal stimulus in the forthcoming Budget," Mukherjee added.
